Este artículo busca analizar los datos de una encuesta aplicada a 178 desarrolladores de Software Libre en América Latina y el Caribe, a la luz de lo que varios autores han caracterizado como una ética hacker. Los valores y aspiraciones de la ética hacker se evidencian a través de algunos de los datos de la encuesta y presentan algunas particularidades ilustradas con ejemplos. La ética hacker finalmente va más allá de las comunidades de desarrolladores de Software Libre para empezar a influenciar otros ámbitos en la sociedad de la información.
